The tale of the Pendle Witches and the Witch hunts in England mainly during the 1600’s is a testament to people driven by fear, control, lust for power and ignorance. Many innocent people died due to these views. Have we really learned the lesson from these days? I say, we have not, the issues may be different but many of us do horrible things still in the name of fear, control, lust for power and ignorance.
ON THE TRAIL OF THE PENDLE WITCHES
Old Pendle, Old Pendle thou standest alone
‘twixt Burnley and Clitheroe, Whalley and Colne
Where the Hodder and the Ribble’s fair waters do meet
with Barley and Downham content at thy feet.
Folksong by Milton-Allan
